Career Development Series

In today's evolving climate of transformational change, changing and growing in your career is imperative. This series will address how you can optimize your current role, discover options in your career path, and gather tools and resources to help you along the way.

The Career Development  Workshop Series requires registration and commitment to all four sessions in the series. Supervisor support is encouraged to participate. 

Session 1: Tuesday, February 27th, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm Location: Building 11 (Ingram) Room 103

"Optimizing Your Current Role" Are you where you need to be in your current position? What can you do to be better in your current role? In this session, you will assess your current position and the performance expectations associated with it. In this session, you will reflect on your current position and what you need to do to optimize your role.

"Looking to the Future" Setting you up for the next best thing! What are your career goals? In this session you will you will be Getting Ready to Ascend at Durham Tech (GRAD). Are there any jobs you might be interested in here at Durham Tech?  You will explore jobs that may interest you and reflect on the direction you want to move here at Durham Tech. Are you aware of the knowledge, skills, and attitudes you will need to move to this new position? You always need to be ready for that next opportunity!

"Tools to Get You There" What tools do you need to get there? This session will guide you through some of the important skills you can utilize to get to your goal. These include networking, effective communication skills, and going the extra mile.  You will learn about participating in strategic activities and networks that will take you to the next level.  

Session 4: Monday, April 8th, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm Location: Center for Learning Excellence Bldg 3 Room 125

"Mapping Your Career Path" Bringing it all together! This session brings all that you have done in the first three sessions together, through the creation of a career development map or action plan. You will create an inventory of knowledge, skills, and activities needed to achieve your goals. What do you need to get there? Map your career path!
