Transitioning to Remote Instruction

WEBINAR: Preparing to Teach Online in an Emergency

This session will be presented via webinar. You can participate from anywhere you have internet access. (Speakers or a headset are required to hear the webinar.)

Details for accessing the webinar (a link and password) will be emailed to you immediately after you register. A recording will be made available for those unable to attend.

This webinar will provide information about tools, training, and resources available to help instructors quickly transition from classroom to online instruction.

Participants will become aware of...

Quick Start: Using the Meetings Tool in Sakai

The Meetings tool in Sakai allows instructors to hold live, webinar-style online meetings with students.

This workshop provides a quick, hands-on introduction to the basic features of the Meetings tool. It doesn’t cover all the bells and whistles, but is designed to get you started using the tool fast!

In this workshop, you will create an online meeting, attend a meeting as a student, and practice leading a meeting, using the Sakai Meetings tool.

Narrating PowerPoints and Sharing Them on Warpwire

Office 2019 for Windows (aka Office 365) has easy-to-use tools for narrating PowerPoint presentations and turning them into videos. You can include a small “picture-in-picture” video of yourself in the corner and draw on slides to emphasize points as you record. In this hands-on workshop, you will use these tools to narrate a PowerPoint and then export it as a video. And you’ll learn how to upload your video to Warpwire so you can share it with students in Sakai.
